Description
A very special work of art by the esteemed artist, Peter Deighan which captures the former patron to The Jockey Club, Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother over the course of her lifetime’s involvement with the sport of horseracing. A prolific Owner, Her Majesty, unlike her daughter, Queen Elizabeth II who preferred flat racing, was a staunch supporter of the National Hunt variety, being Champion Owner in 1954 and 1957 though arguably her most famous horse was Devon Loch who famously stumbled agonisingly close to the finshing line, under Richard Pitman, when almost winning the 1956 Grand National. With over 400 winners in the National Hunt division, her other notable horses would have been Game Spirit and Special Cargo, both household names in NH circles. This exceptional work of art was commissioned prior to her sad death in 2002 but is an everlasting tribute to one of horseracing’s most ardent supporters. She will never be forgotten and this original work of art by the esteemed artist is an exceptional Collectors Item. Reluctantly offered for sale, it is in oil on canvas and is beautifully mounted and framed, measuring approximately 78 x 78cm.
